Mystic River Residential Care offers a wide range of nature-oriented, community and lifestyle activities to meet the needs and interests of everyone at our home. We employ a full-time Lifestyle Director who plans different activities and mini courses each month. She is a certified by Peace Love, an organization utilizing creative arts to move individuals with mental illness toward recovery.

We also work on volunteer and employment skills for our residents, some of whom are paid part-time employees, with others volunteering for the Meals on Wheels Program and the local library. We work with community groups including Dennison Pequotsepos Nature Center, Mystic-Noank Library, the historical society, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), Horses Healing Humans, SEMHA (Southeast Mental Health Authority), and various churches. Our calendar changes monthly.

Leisure time is critical for resident’s well being. We have many nature-oriented activities (osprey counting, walks on the beach and in the woods, and an in-house cat) regular exercise programs (chair yoga, walks), art classes, music programs (drumming is a favorite), trips around CT and sometimes out of state, pastoral care and parties. Holistic activities include meditation in our garden, clinical aroma therapy, reiki and yoga.
